1. Kaal Bhairav Nath Temple, Varanasi

Kala Mahadev Temple is unique among the Shiva Temples in Jaipur since it is in mid of Aravalli Hills. This sacred site, which is accessible from all four corners, is famous for providing unmatched calm and views of Jaipur. This sacred site in Jaipur is further enhance by the surrounding Kanak Valley and Kanak Vrindavan. 3. Kodungallur Bhagavathy Temple, Kerala

This one is peculiar since it is the only temple where worshippers insult the deity on special occasions. The Kodungallur Bhagavathy Temple is devoted to the Bhadrakali goddess, a manifestation of Goddess Kali, and is situated in the Thrissur region of Kerala. Devotees hurl obscene, crude, disrespectful, and abusive cries at the goddess during the Bharani festival, which typically takes place in the months of March or April each year. This rite is meant to delight the deity. But the purifying rite is performed the following day. Imagine tens of thousands of worshippers verbally assaulting their goddess! There is an idol of the god Bhadrakali, who according to mythology is yet another potent manifestation of “Adi Shakti.” The six-foot-tall, eight-handed wooden idols are in height.

4. Kamakhya Devi Temple, Assam

The Ambuvasi Pooja, which takes place in the month of Ashaad, is a famous event at the Kamakhya Temple. Given that it is believed the goddess is menstruation, the temple is kept sealed for four days. For four days, a white cloth is placed over the yoni. Celebrations and pooja take place in the temple on the fourth day. The fact that the cloth becomes crimson after four days is an incredible miracle for which no one has a convincing explanation. Even the Brahmaputra River turns crimson at the same time, it is seen. However, some claim that this occurs when the sages perform one of their ceremonies in which they pour vermillion into the river. Such responses notwithstanding, this sanctuary has never ceased to amaze many.

5. Tanot Mata Temple, Jaisalmer

Tanot Mata Temple is one of the holy sites in Rajasthan that you should be aware of because of its intriguing location on the Indo-Pak border. This shrine is in devotion to the goddess Durga, has a fascinating backstory. According to folklore, this bordering temple was the target of the Pakistani army during the 1965 conflict between India and Pakistan. All the Pakistani army’s failed attempts to bombard this location were in the talks. Both the temple and the soldiers stationed here escaped without damage.

Grenades and other weapons used against the Indian troops are present in the shrine as evidence. Legend has it that a similar incident occurred during the war of 1971, when numerous attempts destroyed this temple and the surrounding area, the temple once again withstood all of the assaults. As a result, Mata Tanot Temple is revered by many people, including army officials, and is known as a place of miracles. The best method to get to the temple, which is 150 kilometres from Jaisalmer city, is by hiring a taxi.

6. Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir, Nathu Lal Pass, Sikkim

The history connected to Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple makes it a unique location. It is in between the Nathula and Jelepla passes at an elevation of 13,123 feet and around 52 kilometres from Gangtok. Every soldier in the challenging high-altitude environment of the Eastern Himalayas shielded by the soul of God. When Sepoy Harbhajan Singh of the 23rd Punjab Regiment went missing 35 years ago, Baba’s legends began to take shape. After starting a manhunt, it took the soldiers three days to find his body. He suspects of leading the military to the spot. The soldiers built a Samadhi in his honour, and the locals still believe that Baba’s ghost guards the soldier posted here.

7. Pahari Baba Mandir, Ranchi

One of Ranchi, Jharkhand’s crown jewels is Pahari Baba Mandir, which is located atop Ranchi Hill. Pahari Baba Temple, which is in devotion to Lord Shiva, bears witness to the sacrifice made by Indian freedom fighters. It is in talks, the shrine is built in a spot where during the British reign several independence fighters were hanged as a punishment for revolting. The Indian flag is still flown here on Independence Day and Republic Day in remembrance of those who gave their lives fighting for the country’s freedom. A proclamation of independence is written on a rock not far from this revered shrine. Pahari Baba Temple is unquestionably a spot to treasure and respect in Ranchi. 8. Rameshwar Mahadev Temple, Jaipur

The Rameshwar Mahadev temple, which is in devotions of Lord Shiva, is a remarkable example of Rajput construction and demonstrates an unwavering belief in the strength of Lord Shiva. The shrine bears Maharaja Ram Singh’s name because he built it.
